His film journey started with the French film. His first film was L’homme du large. In the initial days of his career, Boyer was working only for the money and not because of his passion. Later on, he developed a deep voice which made him the romantic star in the film industry. Some of the notable French films include Captain Fracasse, Infernal Circle, Chantelouve, and many others.
Boyer then flew to Hollywood as MGM wanted to make the French version of The Big House called Revoltedan La Prison. He then got the first English-speaking role on paramount’s film The Magnificent Lie. It was a small role but it was his first entry into the English film industry. There were a series of events where he did English films with Paramount and French films with MGM.
He then returned to France where he got the role in many other films due to his presence in Hollywood. Not just limited to French, he also did many roles in English films.
Some of the notable roles include The Only Girl, Caravan, Thunder in the East, Le Bonheur, etc.
As their career was in the track, he worked with Universal, Walter Wanger, and Broadway. He even did a television show. The anthology show where he was an actor was Four Star Playhouse. Charles also appeared as himself in “I love Lucy” which is a CBS sitcom.
