Treating Crew With Respect–Part 2

Another great way to respect your crew and make them really happy is with food. I discovered thison one of the first shorts that Iproduced. My brother and I were talking about what to get for craftservices. He’sreally healthy and into weight lifting and stuff like that, andhe looks great.Oneof thethings he said wasthat we neededto make sure there’s a lot of protein on set and take care of thehealth of the cast andcrew. So,it was low budget and we had nomoney. We were just playingaroundbut itactually turned out to be a really good video, a good shoot and show.

The main thing wasthat we did not actually have any sweets on our set. There are people that willcomplain if you don’t have sweets andof course, it’s entirely up to you andyou can if you want.Personally, if I am producing it and the main producer, Ido nothavesweets on the set.I actually justgo with the healthy stuff and people usually do not complaintome.Since that first project, oneofthe things I like to do is keep itheavy on theprotein. After all, protein is very filling. This sounds likeit will be very expensive to do, but it doesn’t have to be. One of the ways you canprovide proteininexpensivelyistodo hard boiled eggs. Anothergreat option, if you can cook on set, is to dosomegrilled cheese sandwiches or somequesadillas. If you can’tcook, then you can do tuna fish or coldcut sandwiches. Oh, my gosh. The best thing, even if you have very little money, is to just havesomecold cuts out there for people to make their own sandwiches. This is a great, quick option becausepeople can make what they want and ittakes like 10 minutes.

It’s important for people to be able to grab something healthy to eat when they have a chancebecause working for up to six hours without food is too long. Cast and crew start to run out ofenergy and get cranky. So,it’s definitely a great, great thing to get cold cuts. I alsoget celery andcarrotsand chop them up to make them easy to snackon anda little bit of ranch dressing goes along way. This is in addition tothehard-boiledeggswhich are super great.Another fantastic optionis to addprotein bars. They don’t actually cost that much but it’s important to get the good ones, usually with 20 grams of protein or more. Don’t get the cheap ones that are basically just sugarbars.Another popular option iscottage cheese with a little bit of fruit orwith vegetables.I also really lovehummus and beef jerky is a wonderful option for a snackto keep in your pocket.

Inspirational Quotes About Respect for the Workplace

Why should you offer healthier options on craft services? I guarantee you that you willsee that theenergy of the crew will be so much better. In fact, I was on a set where there was low energy andthe producer was talking aboutwhether to break for food or what else they could try.Imade thesuggestion to try some healthier food and snack options and even though it was the lastday and itwas actually a night shootthe crew was really excited about the healthy stuffand everybodyhad somuch energy going all the way through the night. It was beautiful.

Giving your crew healthy options and demonstrating that you have their well-being at heart isanother really great way of showing that you respect them.
